4.2.1 First article testing. Each objective lens assembly in the FAT lot
shall be subjected to the inspections of Table II. Samples selected from the lot
shall be subjected to the inspections of Table III. Sample size shall be as
specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2.c). Failure of any
inspection shall be cause for rejection of that objective lens assembly and may
be cause for failure of the FAT inspection. Inspections may be performed in any
order except that the Modulation transfer function test shall be performed last.

4.2.2 Disposition of FAT inspection samples. After successful completion
of the FAT inspection, the FAT inspection samples shall be refurbished and
delivered in accordance with the contract or purchase order (see 6.2.d).
4.3 Conformance inspection. Requirements for conformance inspection shall
be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2.e). Unless otherwise
specified, all tests shall be performed at ambient temperature (see 3.9.2).
5.
PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging requirements. For acquisition purposes, the packaging
requirements shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2.g).
When actual packaging of materials is to be performed by DOD personnel, these
personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain
requisite packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the
Inventory control Point's packaging activity within the Military Department of
Defense Agency, or within the Military Department's System Command. Packaging
data retrieval is available from the managing Military Department Agency's
automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible
packaging activity.
