3.5.8.1 First foot of ribbon. Each tenth graduation shall be numbered to indicate tenths of
a foot. The tenth of ten graduations shall be numbered to indicate feet. The first end marking
up to 2/10 of a foot may be obliterated by end fitting.
3.5.8.2 Second and each successive foot of ribbon. The second to ninth graduations of
each successive foot shall be numbered to indicate feet and tenths of a foot. Tenth graduations
shall be numbered to indicate feet.
3.5.9 Frequency markings. The reverse face of the ribbon shall be graduated to frequency
in megahertz. The frequency markings shall be abbreviated "MHz" and shall be as listed in
Table I. The location of the markings shall correspond to the listed linear dimension on the
other side of the ribbon. Each numerical graduation shall include the abbreviation "MHz". All
characters shall be black and not less than 1/4 inch high.
