4.2 First article testing. When specified in the contract, the first article inspection shall be
performed by the contractor as specified in the contract. First article reliability (4.2.3) is not
required unless specified in the contract (see 6.2.b.3).
4.2.1 Inspections. All materials, parts, processes and assemblies shall be visually examined
for conformance to the applicable specification or drawing and Table I inspections. Inspection
shall be made using sampling per ASQC Z 1.4.
