3.5 Performance characteristics. The performance characteristics for the Radio Set
AN/GRC-103(V)3 will be defined within the individual system requirements for the following
set components. These components are the Transmitter section (3.5.1), Receiver section (3.5.2),
Terminal section (3.5.3), Receiver Transmitter Order Wire (3.5.4), Antenna (3.5.5), and the Mast
(3.5.6).
3.5.1 Transmitter section.
3.5.1.1 Output power. The normal transmitter RF output power, without the RF duplexer,
shall be not less than 20 watts at any frequency in the range of 695 to 1000 MHz.
3.5.1.2 Low power alarm. A visual and audible alarm shall be provided in the transmitter.
The visual alarm shall indicate any change in RF output power that is greater than 8 dB + 2 dB
- 0 dB below the nominal power output rating of the transmitter. The switch associated with the
audible alarm is included such that; in one switch position the alarm shall sound when the visual
alarms are lighted as in the case of a failure; in the second switch position, the alarm sounds
when the light is not lighted. The audible alarm thus indicates a change in state of the visual
signal.
3.5.1.3 Output tube dissipation. The transmitter output power shall not decrease below
specification limits after:
a. Running the transmitter for 15 minutes with its output terminals short-circuited.
b. Running the transmitter for 15 minutes with its output terminals open-circuited.
