will be able to perform its intended function when it is assembled.
Verification of the supplier meeting the overall performance requirements
shall be the governing acceptance standard. Recovered materials shall be used
to the maximum extent possible.
3.6 Major components. All major components, down to the spare part
component level, shall be interchangeable with respect to form, fit, and
function.
3.6.1 Battery. The IAL shall be powered by equal or similar battery
type BA-3058/U ("AA" alkaline).
3.6.2 Battery Cap Assembly. The battery cap assembly shall be
constructed in accordance with drawing A3186954.
3.6.3
IAL assembly.
The IAL assembly shall be in accordance with
A3187001.
3.6.4 M16 mounting bracket assembly. The M16 mounting bracket assembly
shall be in accordance with drawing AXXXXXXXXX.

3.7 Performance characteristics.
3.7.1 Output beam width. The IAL shall project a well defined beam with
a beam width of 0.25 mrad to 0.50 mrad along every axis in a plane
perpendicular to the beam's longitudinal axis. In the same plane, the ratio
of the largest beam width measurement to the smallest beam width measurement
shall not exceed a value of 1.8.
3.7.2 Output power. When measured at the output aperture, with the
optical baffle assembly removed and with an input voltage of 3.0 volts direct
current (Vdc), the IAL's peak power shall not be less than 0.50 mW nor be
greater than 0.70 mW. The IAL shall be designed in accordance with MIL-STD-
