MIL-PRF-49434A(CR)
3.8.6.1 Extended depth immersion (non-operational). The IAL assembly
shall not be damaged (see 3.15.1) after being immersed in a minimum of 100
feet of fresh water for a minimum of 120 minutes.
3.8.7 High intensity shock (non-operational). The IAL assembly shall
not be damaged (see 3.15.1) when subjected to three half-sine pulses with a
peak amplitude of 400 g + 15 percent (see 3.15.7) for a duration of 1
millisecond + 5 percent along the horizontal, vertical, and optical axes when
tested IAW MIL-STD-810C, Method 516.2, Procedure IV as modified by this
paragraph.
3.8.8 Vibration (non-operational). The IAL assembly shall not be
damaged (see 3.15.1) when subjected to random vibration having a power
spectral density of up to 0.015 g2/Hz over a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz
when tested IAW MIL-STD-810C, Method 514, as modified by paragraph 4.5.8 of
this specification.
3.8.9 Transit drop. The IAL assembly and ancillary equipment contained
in the shipping/storage case shall not be damaged (see 3.15.1) when subjected
to drops from a minimum of 48 inches on each corner, edge, and face of the
shipping/storage case when tested IAW MIL-STD-810C, Method 516.2, Procedure
II.
3.8.10 Sand and dust. The IAL shall not be damaged (see 3.15.1) by sand
and dust when tested IAW MIL-STD-810C, Method 510.1, Procedure I.
3.8.11 Salt fog. The IAL shall not be damaged (see 3.15.1) by salt fog
when tested IAW MIL-STD-810C, Method 509.1, Procedure I.
3.8.12 Fungus. The IAL, in a non-operating condition, shall not be
damaged (see 3.15.1) by fungus or support fungal growth when tested IAW MIL-
STD-810C, Method 508.2.
3.8.13 Explosive atmosphere. The IAL, immersed in an explosive gaseous
mixture, shall not cause ignition of the mixture during IAL turn-on,
operation, or turn-off when tested IAW MIL-STD-810C, Method 511.1,Procedure I.
3.9 Reliability. The IAL assembly shall have a minimum Mean Cycles
Between Failures (MCBF) of 30,000. MIL-HDBK-781 may be used for guidance.
3.10 Electromagnetic interference (EMI). The IAL assembly shall be
tested in accordance with the following emission and susceptibility
requirements of MIL-STD-461 Notice 4: RE02, RS02, and RS03. The upper
frequency limit requirements of RE02 and RE02.1 shall be 400 MHz. For RS03,
the IAL assembly shall be immersed in electric fields of the intensities shown
in Table I using the specified modulation characteristics. The IAL assembly
shall meet MIL-STD-461 requirements during RE testing and shall not be
affected or damaged (see 3.15.1) during or after RS testing.
